ISAC recognizes the vital role Shared Resource Labs (SRLs) play in the advancement of cytometry. This recognition program acknowledges and supports SRLs who adhere to best practices as outlined by Barsky et al. in areas including laboratory safety, quality control and assurance, operations and management, staffing, standard operating procedures, training and education, and data management.

The ISAC SRL Recognition Program is intended to promote sustained achievement of excellence in SRL operations and provide these SRLs with acknowledgement of these accomplishments along with access to development opportunities.

The goals of this program including defining and recognizing best practices in flow cytometry; recognizing excellence in flow cytometry SRLs, with the potential for ISAC to become a leader in setting standards for SRLs focused on other technologies; increasing reproducibility, rigor and reliability of flow cytometry data; benefit SRLs and non-SRL laboratories by providing benchmarks and standards of achievement; recognize SRLs as models for upholding best practices in cytometry, as outlined by ISAC; support ISAC’s strategic goals by encouraging adherence to standards, promoting membership and engagement, and increasing ISAC’s brand visibility in the field and beyond.

Notably, the recognition program offers SRLs the opportunity to be validated and benchmarked by their peers, while providing a platform for informing and influencing the cytometry community and shared resource laboratories regarding best practices.
